Providence
Raising a child is a wonderful, yet emotional experience. When a child has any type of disability, there are new and different challenges. That’s when families need a place with the experience, skill and understanding to provide specialized health, education, and therapy to support their child’s needs and help them to develop to their full potential.

Providence has helped children and families since 1943. Many still know us from our founding as the Providence Crèche, a home for abandoned children waiting adoption. The Sisters of Charity of Providence had responsibility for caring for children until 1968 when the Providence Child Development Society, a nonprofit, nonsectarian, registered charitable organization pioneered integrated programs for preschool aged children with special needs. As a day care organization until 2003, Providence was noted for its high calibre of programs and services.

Today, Providence continues to strengthen its reputation as a preschool for children with disabilities. We are especially proud of our inclusive model of service that gives children and families a unique blend of medical, educational, and therapeutic services. Providence is a very special organization in Calgary with a highly specialized and effective approach to helping children and families.

We look for every opportunity to help children achieve their potential and that includes our facilities. Providence schools are distinguished by award winning playgrounds, sensory rooms, gymnasiums and other play spaces.
